Just read the first 100 pages of this book last night and am VERY impressed with the author. Wow....how do people come up with this stuff! I am loving it and hoping that the next 100 pages will be just as thought provoking! So much to think about!

Quote from "Captivating"

This is one of my favorite quotes from the book "Captivating"   I absolutely love this!

"Your feminine heart has been created with the greatest of all possible dignities- as a reflection of God’s own heart……the story of Eve… We clearly haven’t learned its lessons- for if we had, men would treat women much much differently, and women would view themselves in a far better light… Adam steps forth, the image of God. Nothing in creation even comes close. Picture Michelangelo’s David. He is… magnificent. Truly the masterpiece seems complete. And yet, the Master says that something is not good, not right. Something in missing… and that something is Eve…
She is the crescendo, the final astonishing work of God. Woman. In one least flourish creation comes to a finish not with Adam, but with Eve. She is the Master’s finishing touch… His piece de resistance. She fills a place in the world nothing and no one else can fill… (Ladies) Look out across the earth and say to yourselves, “The whole, vast world is incomplete without me. Creation reached its zenith in me.”
And she, too, bears the image of God but in a way that only the feminine can speak. What can we learn from her? God wanted to reveal something about Himself, so he gave us Eve… Eve is created because things were not right without her. Something was not good. …Something is missing? What could it possibly be? Eve. Woman. Femininity. Wow. Talk about significance."

My Mama's Wisdom

My mom wrote me an email today and here is what it said.  I just thought that the wisdom of her words greatly complimented what we are reading in this lovely book! :
"When you pray, lay out your concerns before God. Speak candidly, pour out your heart. THEN thank Him for the answers that He has set into motion long before you can discern results. When your requests come to mind again, continue to thank Him for the answers that are on the way. IF YOU KEEP STATING YOUR CONCERNS TO GOD, YOU LIVE IN A STATE OF TENSION. When you thank Him for how He is answering your prayers, your mind - set becomes more positive. THANKFUL PRAYERS KEEP YOUR FOCUS ON HIS PRESENCE AND HIS PROMISES."

Book for January Meeting

"Captivating: Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman's Soul

by John Eldredge, Stasi Eldredge

(description of book)"Every little girl has dreams of being swept up into a great adventure, of being the beautiful princess. Sadly, when women grow up, they are often swept up into a life filled merely with duty and demands. Many Christian women are tired, struggling under the weight of the pressure to be a "good servant," a nurturing caregiver, or a capable home manager. What Wild at Heart did for men, Captivating can do for women. This groundbreaking book shows readers the glorious design of women before the fall, describes how the feminine heart can be restored, and casts a vision for the power, freedom, and beauty of a woman released to be all she was meant to be. By revealing the core desires every woman shares-to be romanced, to play an irreplaceable role in a grand adventure, and to unveil beauty-John and Stasi Eldredge invite women to recover their feminine hearts, created in the image of an intimate and passionate God. Further, they encourage men to discover the secret of a woman's soul and to delight in the beauty and strength women were created to offer."For those in the Central Coast area, we will meet to discuss it the last Thursday of the month (Jan 27th) downtown!  For those of you not in the area, feel free to start posting your thoughts about the book at anytime!  --Sort of an online, ongoing Book Club Discussion group!  I'm really excited!  :)
